Rubber fender, also known as rubber fender, is installed on the wharf or ship to absorb collision energy between the ship and the wharf or ship when docking or mooring, and to protect the ship and wharf from damage.
Usually rubber fenders can be divided into two categories according to their structure: solid rubber fenders (non-floating type) and floating rubber fenders. Solid rubber fender (non-floating type) is an anti-collision equipment for Wharf ships, which has a long history and a wide range of applications. According to the force of rubber fender, it can be divided into shear type, rotation type and compression type. According to the structure of fender, solid rubber fender can be divided into D type, cone type, drum type, fan type, rectangle type, cylinder type fender and so on.
Floating rubber fender can float freely on the water surface. According to the different internal buffer media, it can be divided into inflatable rubber fender and filling rubber fender. The inflatable rubber fender uses compressed air as the medium to consume collision energy by working with compressed air. Foam filled fender is also called solid polyurethane fender. The internal buffer media are mainly closed cell foam materials, such as foamed EVA, foamed polyurethane and foam rubber. Solid rubber fender has the advantages of high energy absorption and reaction, low cost, long service life and simple installation and maintenance. It is a protective device installed in docks and docks.
Floating rubber fender is a relatively new type of fender equipment. Compared with solid rubber fender, its main characteristics are: large compression deformation, large energy absorption, small reaction force, self-floating, easy installation and so on. Usually used in ship-to-ship, ship-to-wharf barge, berthing and other occasions; because of its self-floating characteristics, it is also particularly suitable for the installation of wharfs with large changes in tide level. The filling rubber fender is especially suitable for application in harsh environment because of its maintenance-free and long service life.
